Both types of cod are excellent sources of heart-friendly omega-three fatty acids. They are both filled with vitamin B-12 and lean protein.
Cod is recognised for being a little higher in sodium than most fish, but overall, it can be a safe choice if you consume it in moderation. However, if consumed in moderation, cod can be an excellent option for your diet. Take a look at fish cakes as an alternative recipe.
How do you bake Cod?
Baking cod is quick, but cook your cod in a cast-iron skillet if possible. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees, and don’t forget to grease a baking dish gently. Apply your seasoning and butter mixture to the cod—bake for approximately 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Actual cooking time may depend on the thickness of the fish. Once it flakes easily with a fork, the fish is finished.
How long does it take to bake cod in the oven?
Cod cooks in a 400-degree oven very fast. Depending on your fish’s thickness, it should only take about 10-12 minutes if your oven is preheated. Expect the cod to take 25 to 30 minutes for a 350-degree oven, and expect 13 to 20 minutes for a 375-degree oven.
Is Cod high in Mercury?
Mercury is not only very low in cod fish, but the FDA also recommends 2 to 3 servings of it or other low-mercury fish for pregnant women and infants. Check out the FDA guidelines, if you want to read more about what other fish might be a healthy option for you.
